7th Annual UCRECC Alumni & Friends Football Game and Reception
 On Saturday October 17th, approximately 150 people gathered in the Real Estate Center tent at Rentschler Field, East Hartford. The crowd was entertained by the Huskies Cheer Leading Squad and Marching Band as they sang together in the Husky Fight Song. Students, alumni and friends enjoyed food, beverage, and each other's company at the 7th annual University of Connecticut Real Estate Center Council event. 
Students, alumni and friends had the opportunity to watch as the Huskies won a hard-fought 38-25 BIG EAST Conference victory over the Louisville Cardinals. The homecoming football game drew a crowd of nearly 40,000 fans to Rentschler Field. The win improves the Huskies' record to 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in the BIG EAST. Real Estate Capital Markets Presentation
 On Friday October 16, 2009 the Center for Real Estate and Urban Economic Studies hosted its annual fall Capital Markets presentation at the Downtown Graduate Learning Center. The afternoon began with a casual catered lunch followed by a presentation by Jim Clayton, Vice President of Research, Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, LLC. Jim's presentation touched upon various economic indicators and trends within the commercial real estate industry. Following the presentation Jim opened discussion for the professionals and students in attendance. We would like to thank the UConn Real Estate Center Council for sponsoring this event, Jim Clayton and the professionals, alumni and students that participated in the event. |

House Price Indices
October 5, 2009 Third Quarter, 2009 Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics Studies University of Connecticut The pace of decline in Connecticut's single family housing markets moderated throughout the state during the third quarter of 2009. In the middle of the market, preliminary numbers indicate that prices went down by less than 5% year-over-year, compared to 11-12% rates of decline in the first half of the year. The total decline since the peak in 2006Q1 is 17%. On an inflation adjusted basis Connecticut house prices are down about 26% since their peak. 19th Annual Connecticut Commercial Real Estate Conference
The Connecticut Commercial Real Estate Conference is set for Wednesday November 11th at the Farmington Marriott. Registrations are coming in quickly. Fall 2009 Calendar
Listed below are the Fall 2009 events and activities. For more information on any of the scheduled events, please contact Debbie at 860 486-3227 or email: Debbie Philips. 1. 19th Annual Commercial Real Estate Conference- Wednesday, November 11 at the Farmington Marriott Hotel, 11:45-5:00 pm. Format will be as in the past with lunch at 11:45, 1:00 p.m. Keynote Bill Wheaton of MIT will discuss long term trends shaping the recovery followed by the Connecticut economic update and updates on major commercial markets in Connecticut. Students are invited to attend beginning at 1:00 (after lunch). As usual, we expect 250-300 attendees. 2. MBA Student Activities- Breakfast networking events scheduled every other week in FNCE Conference room 463 at 7:30am, September-November 2009. Faculty are invited to use these events to share information with the MBA students on job opportunities, course information, etc. In addition, MBA students will participate in case presentations from outside firms during the semester. Watch for dates. 3. Real Estate Society Events- The Real Estate Society will hold several social/networking events throughout the semester, which includes a networking breakfast scheduled every other week in FNCE Conference room 463 at 7:00 a.m., September-November 2009. Watch the Student Newsletter for updates on these events. The Professional Speakers in Classroom events are currently being scheduled. Watch for these dates and encourage students to attend. |
