UConn vs. Louisville Real Estate Event Tickets Still Available

On Saturday October 17th, the Real Estate Center Council will once again sponsor the 7th annual Alumni and Friends Fall Event. This year's game is UConn vs. Louisville at Rentschler Field, East Hartford.
The reception starts at 10:00am. The tent will be located between Gate A & B. The sold out football game is scheduled for a 12:00 noon kick off, and it will be aired on The Big East Network as the Game of the Week. To order the tickets we have reserved, click here.

5th Annual Golf Tournament

On Tuesday, September 29th, the University of Connecticut Real Estate Center Council sponsored its 5th Annual Golf Tournament at The Golf Club at Oxford Greens in Oxford, CT. The proceeds benefited the Center for Real Estate and Urban Economic Studies. The day also provided MBA students with the opportunity to interact with real estate professionals from all over the Northeast in a fun and casual environment.

Real Estate Society New York City Field Trip

On Wednesday September 23rd, 40 students and 3 faculty and staff traveled to New York City to visit 6 firms in the real estate industry.
The day started with a luncheon presentation at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). ICSC is the preeminent global trade association of the shopping center industry. Richard Sosnovy, VP, Real Estate with Dressbarn shared his real estate experience and involvement with ICSC.
Field trip participants visited the following companies: GE Real Estate, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Carnegie Corporation of New York, Shorenstein Properties LLC, Northmarq Capital, and Deutsche Bank.

We want to thank the following alumni and associates for giving the students a first hand account of the New York real estate industry. Real Estate Capital Markets Presentation
This year's Capital Markets Presentation sponsored by UCRECC will be held on Friday October 16, 2009.
The catered luncheon to be held at the Downtown Hartford Graduate Learning Center will start at 11:45 a.m. Jim Clayton will speak on Real Estate Capital Market Dynamics:Update and Post Credit Crisis Prospects. Jim is with the Research group at Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, LLC and is also an adjunct professor here at the University of Connecticut.
The luncheon will start at approximately 11:45am and end about 1:30pm.

UConn to host top real estate scholars
This fall, UConn will host research seminars presented by top scholars from the University of North Carolina, Penn State, Syracuse, Tufts and the Boston Fed. 1. "Specialized" MBA Fieldtrip- Stamford/GE Trip, date to be determined, most likely late October or early November.
2. Real Estate Capital Markets Presentation- , October 16, 2009 date to be determined. This event includes presentations by leading industry representatives. The format will be the following: Catered luncheon to be held at the Downtown Graduate Learning Center at 11:30am followed by the presentation at 12:30, ending at approximately 1:30pm.
3. Alumni Football/Reception Event- October 17, 2009 Homecoming- UConn vs. Louisville Football game/ BBQ at Rentschler Field, East Hartford with pre-game reception 2 hours prior to the start of the game. Ticket details and registration will be made available soon. We expect 150-200 people to attend.
4. 19th Annual Commercial Real Estate Conference- Wednesday, November 11 at the Farmington Marriott Hotel, 11:45-5:00 pm. Format will be as in the past with lunch at 11:45, 1:00 p.m. Keynote Bill Wheaton of MIT will discuss long term trends shaping the recovery followed by the Connecticut economic update and updates on major commercial markets in Connecticut. Students are invited to attend beginning at 1:00 (after lunch). As usual, we expect 250-300 attendees.
5. MBA Student Activities- Breakfast networking events scheduled every other week in FNCE Conference room 463 at 7:30am, September-November 2009. Faculty are invited to use these events to share information with the MBA students on job opportunities, course information, etc. In addition, MBA students will participate in case presentations from outside firms during the semester. Watch for dates.
6. Real Estate Society Events- The Real Estate Society will hold several social/networking events throughout the semester, which includes a networking breakfast scheduled every other week in FNCE Conference room 463 at 7:00 a.m., September-November 2009. Watch the Student Newsletter for updates on these events. The Professional Speakers in Classroom events are currently being scheduled. Watch for these dates and encourage students to attend.
