Real Estate Society Boston Field Trip
On Friday, March 27th, 14 students and staff traveled to Boston, MA to visit two companies, Hines and UGL Equis.
Greg Brown and Jodi Walker of Hines led the presentation and tour of their property at 222 Berkeley Street designed by the architect, Philip Johnson. Students were given a tour of the facilities and met with several of the on-site staff. Greg Brown spoke about the history of Hines and its commitment to developing and managing high-quality real estate. Hines is a privately owned, international realty firm, whose projects have redefined the way developers interact with and treat architecture, promoting a balance between function, beauty and sustainability. Students appreciated the opportunity to tour such a spectacular building and gain an intimate perspective to the world of property management.
Bob Caulfield, Founding Partner of Visnick & Caulfield Associates, also gave an impromptu tour of his architectural firm. Visnick & Caulfield Associates is a tenant of the Hines property. They also designed the UGL Unnico office in Auburndale that we later visited for the UGL Equis presentation.
Dan Piskadlo (UConn '99) and James Halepis of UGL Equis spoke about the company and helped to facilitate discussion. Derek Losi, John O'Connell, and Roger Williams also participated in discussion and answered questions about their own career paths and experiences in real estate brokerage, transaction advisory, and portfolio management. UGL Equis is a multidisciplinary corporate real estate services firm that delivers integrated services exclusively to business space users. Students appreciated the presenters honesty and approachability when fielding questions and sharing experiences.
Thank you to all of our speakers for their time and expertise.
