Many Students ARGUS Certified
Twenty six UConn Real Estate students recently participated in a rigorous course that explored Financial modeling using industry standard ARGUS Software. The course included numerous case studies where students explored and learned the intricacies of modeling real estate investments from the debt and equity side of an institutional investor’s perspective.
Students that passed the Certification Exam received their 2 year ARGUS Certification. The Certification course is only offered at two other major universities on the east coast where the average exam pass rate is 30%. We are pleased to announce that 67% of our students passed the Certification exam on the first try. Others will try again soon. The Real Estate Center congratulates these students as this is a significant accomplishment.

Strategic Planning and Benchmarking Study
UConn’s real estate center has developed a five
year plan designed to retain our legislative mandate, deal with the current
financial stress and improve the value of our undergraduate and graduate
degrees. Our plan is to:
·
Continue active support for the real
estate professional community and State government, serving as a resource for
strategic management of risks.
o
Specifically, our Capital Markets Update
(March 24, 2009 in Hartford) and our Housing Conference (May 12, 2009 in Berlin)
are oriented towards finding opportunity in the midst of crisis.
·
Maintain our highly ranked undergraduate
and graduate education programs, including internships, job placements and
experiential learning.
·
Produce cutting edge research, with the
objective of retaining our high international ranking.
·
Hire a tenured professor and a full-time
professional staff member. In order to meet legislative mandates, retain
staffing comparable to peer real estate programs and retain a critical mass for
teaching and research, the Center must obtain a replacement for the recently
retired Center Director. Adequate staffing bridges the current gap and provides
support to the state during this time of financial and economic stress.
