4th Annual Golf Tournament
 On Tuesday, September 23rd, the University of Connecticut Real Estate Center Council sponsored its 4th Annual Golf Tournament at The Golf Club at Oxford Greens in Oxford, CT. The proceeds benefited the Center for Real Estate and Urban Economic Studies. Eight student volunteers from the Center's MBA program assisted in organizing the event. The day also provided the students with the opportunity to interact with real estate professionals from all over the Northeast in a fun and casual environment. Many thanks to Kevin Dinnie, Andy Tedford, Charlie Schoenherr, Chris Westphal and the following companies for their generous support to the Real Estate Center Council: CB Richard Ellis, Connecticut Attorneys Title Insurance Company, Cornerstone Real Estate Advisors, GE Real Estate, Goedecke & Co., LLC, HIMCO, Northmarq Capital, and Roth & Schoetz. Fall 2008 Schedule of Activities
Listed below are the Fall 2008 events and activities. For more information on any of the scheduled events, please contact Debbie at 860 486-3227 or email: Debbie Philips. 1. “Specialized” MBA Fieldtrip. Stamford/GE trip, date to be determined, most likely late October or early November. 2. Real Estate Capital Markets Presentation, Friday October 24, 2008. Co-sponsored by Real Estate Finance Association. Presentations by leading industry representatives. The format will be the following: Catered luncheon to be held at the Downtown Graduate Learning Center at 11:30am followed by the presentation by Jim Clayton at 12:30, ending at approximately 1:30pm. 3. Alumni Football/Reception Event – Saturday, October 25, 2008. UConn/ Cincinnati Football game/BBQ at Rentschler Field, East Hartford with pre-game reception 2 hours prior to the start of the game. See Debbie for tickets. We expect 150-200 people to attend. 4. 18th Annual Commercial Real Estate Conference. Thursday, November 13 at the Farmington Marriott Hotel, 11:45 – 5:00 pm. Format will be as in the past with lunch at 11:45, 1:00 p.m. keynote TBD followed by the Connecticut economic update and updates on major commercial markets in Connecticut. Students are invited to attend beginning at 1:00 (after lunch). As usual we expect 250-300 attendees. 5. MBA Student Activities Breakfast networking events scheduled every other week in FNCE Conference room 463 at 7:30am, September – November 2008. Faculty are invited to use these events to share information with the MBA students on job opportunities, course information, etc. In addition MBA students will participate in case presentations from outside firms during the semester. Watch for dates. 6. Real Estate Society Events. The Real Estate Society will hold several social/networking events throughout the semester. Watch the Student Newsletter for updates on these events. The Professional Speakers in Classroom events are currently being scheduled. Watch for these dates and encourage students to attend. |
