New Housing Ekes Out Small Gain in Connecticut

Last 6 Months of 2007

Newly built houses (i.e., those less than 20 years old) increased by an average of 1.5% in the last half of 2007.  While this is less than the rate of inflation, it compares favorably to many parts of the US, where builders are decreasing asking prices. New housing markets differ substantially across towns in Connecticut. Prices increased by 5% or more in Danbury, Groton, Madison, Simsbury, Southington and Stamford whereas they decreased substantially in Bristol, Monroe, New Milford and Windsor.

New housing is doing well relative to existing single family and condominiums in Connecticut – for more information please see below to read more.
