School of Business Welcomes Dr. P. Christopher Earley as the New Dean

 The UConn School of Business is pleased to welcome Dr. P. Christopher Earley as the new dean and Auran J. Fox Chair in Business. Earley comes to UConn after serving as dean of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School - one of the top business schools in Asia.

Prior to his appointment as dean at NUS Business School, Earley was Chair and Professor of Organizational Behavior at the London Business School in England. He has taught on the faculties of National University of Singapore, London Business School, Indiana University, University of Arizona,University of Minnesota and University of California, Irvine.

Earley is an authority on multinational work teams,cross-cultural differences of individual behavior in organizations, and motivation systems across cultures. His research interest in cultural intelligence - people's capacity to adjust to new cultural environments - led him to first visit China in 1986. Since then he has traveled and worked in China, England, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore for more than 20 years. An internationally recognized scholar, Earley has written 10 books and over 100 articles and book chapters.

His experience extends beyond the classroom having consulted for companies such as Deutsche Bank, IBM, Islamic Development Bank, General Motors, Unilever, British Aerospace, Mercury Asset Management, Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals in England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, China, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand.

Earley received a BA degree from Knox College and an MA degree and Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

The Korpacz Real Estate Market Trends Presentation and Luncheon will be held on Monday, January 28, 2008.  The luncheon will start at 12:15 p.m. followed by the presentation by Peter Korpacz from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. Peter is one of the leading real estate market analysts in the country and this promises to be a unique opportunity to listen and discuss his views. This event will be held at the Downtown School of Business, 100 Constitution Plaza, Hartford.

 Please note that seating is limited and reservations are required.  If interested in attending, please email Debbie or call the Real Estate Center at 860 486-3227 no later than January 21, 2008.

Annual Alumni & Friends Basketball Game and Reception

The Center for Real Estate announces the  2008 Alumni & Friends Basketball Game and Reception to be held on Monday, January 28, 2008. 

Dr. P. Christopher Earley, new Dean of the School of Business will be in attendance at the reception. This will be a great opportunity to meet and greet the new Dean.

The Reception will be held at the Hilton Hartford Hotel, Connecticut Ballroom from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., followed by the UConn vs. Louisville basketball game at 7:00 p.m.

Game tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and must be picked up at the pre-game reception by 6:30 p.m. Two (2) ticket limit.  Click here for registration form.

1.         Korpacz – Real Estate Market Trends Presentation –Monday, January 28, 2008, Graduate Learning Center, Downtown Hartford. Lunch begins at 12:15 p.m. followed by the presentation at 1:00 p.m.

 

2.         Spring Alumni/Friends Networking/Basketball Event –Monday, January 28, UConn Men vs. Louisville, 7:00 p.m. game time, pre-game reception from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Hilton Hartford Hotel, Hartford, Connecticut.  Dean Earley will be in attendance.

 

3.         6th Annual Awards Banquet – Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the South Campus Ballroom.  Reception starts at 5:00, dinner at 6:00. Recognition of outstanding students, alumni and scholarship winners.

 

4.         Instructor’s Seminar – Friday, April 4, 2008.  Hawthorne Inn , Berlin, Connecticut.

 

5.         Connecticut Housing Conference – Thursday, May 8, 2008.  Hawthrone Inn, 2387-2421 Berlin Turnpike, Berlin, Connecticut.  Registration begins at 11:30 and lunch at 11:45. Keynote will be Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist for the National Association of Realtors.

 

6.       Real Estate Society - Professional Speakers in Classroom – Each undergrad course will have two or so speakers each during semester.  Dates determined by instructor.  Coordinate dates with Ray.
